The Delta Aquarid meteor shower ushers in the summer night shows! These faint showers appear mid-July and peak on July 28. July finishes off on the 31st with a blue moon—the second full moon in the calendar month of July.

Recent high tides have created "Lake Drake." To reach the beach at Drakes Beach requires some wading, or a longer walk on the south side of the beach to get around the water.

The spring smolt trapping data analysis was completed with an estimated 2,343 coho salmon smolts migrating out of Olema Creek to begin their saltwater life. The estimate was higher than expected, given the low numbers observed last summer. The smolts that survive their ocean time will return as adult fish in 2016–2017.

The Woodpecker Trail has been closed for safety due to a hazardous tree. We will keep you posted when the trail reopens.

The 36th Annual Big Time Festival at Kule Loklo, the Coast Miwok Exhibit, will occur on Saturday, July 18 from 10 am to 4 pm. This free event highlights traditional California dancers, basketmakers, and flintknappers. Vendors will sell a variety of crafts and educational materials. Bring a picnic and enjoy the day.
