If you use an internet mapping application (i.e., Bing Maps, Google Maps, MapQuest) or a GPS unit to obtain directions based on street addresses, please be aware that most GPS systems and internet mapping applications provide incorrect placement of points of interest within Point Reyes National Seashore when the location's official postal address is entered into the search field. If you are using an internet mapping application or a GPS unit that does not accept latitudinal and longitudinal geographic coordinates, try entering the "addresses" listed below. These addresses should get you close enough to the appropriate location that you will have seen old-fashioned road signs upon which you can rely to ultimately get you to your desired destination. If using "Inverness, CA 94937" doesn't appear to give an appropriate location, try "Point Reyes Station, CA 94956" for the City, State, and Zip Code instead.
In October 2016, Point Reyes National Seashore staff attempted to determine which "addresses" would accurately plot points of interest in Bing Maps, Google Maps, and Mapquest. Staff were able to determine addresses to use in Bing Maps and Google Maps which would accurately target (or get one to a location a short distance from) the desired locations, but found it very challenging to do so using Mapquest. We have noted which mapping application works best for the "addresses" listed below (last updated in December 2023).
In addition, Google Maps pinpoints many locations relatively accurately just by entering the name of the location, i.e., "Bear Valley Visitor Center". For these locations, look for a notation of "GM" to signify that the text in quotes should produce an accurate location if entered in Google Maps' search field.

NOTE: All mapping applications tested had problems accurately mapping locations along Limantour Road. Some mapping applications provided directions to locations along Limantour Road via residential roads that dead end far short of the destination, or via old ranch roads upon which vehicles are no longer permitted because the roads have been converted to hiking trails. The best course of action for getting to locations along the Limantour Road corridor is to drive to the junction of Bear Valley Road and Limantour Road and, from there, follow Limantour Road until you see a sign for your desired destination.
