The National Park is resuming a prescribed burn today in the south area off Highway 1, near Dogtown and the McCurdy Trail to reduce exotic plants. Smoke may lie low across the highway due to weather conditions.

The trail crew needs to replace the bridge on the Coast Trail immediately south of Wildcat Campground from Monday, February 2, through Wednesday, February 4. Coast Trail will be closed between Wildcat Campground and the junction with the Ocean Lake Loop Trail. No through hiking or horse-riding.

The full moon rises on Tuesday, February 3. Early wildflowers are beginning to bloom. Updates on elephant seals, gray whales, and tule elk. Park visitor centers will be open the Presidents Day weekend. If the weather is clear, shuttles will operate through the three-day weekend. Highway 1 south of Muir Beach has re-opened.

Visitor Centers will be open on Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. New stop sign along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard west of the junction for the Estero Trail access road.
