Subject: Millerton Point Closure Order for Nov 1–18
Hi everyone,
Attached is a closure order (423 KB PDF) for Millerton Point at Tomales Bay [State Park] for November 1–18. During that time natural resource staff will be implementing a small scale restoration project. We will be removing invasive plant species from the area including small eucalyptus, salt cedar, acacia, pampas, and Himalayan blackberry, and will be doing some revegetation. We will have a contractor on-site Monday through Friday 11/2–11/6 and 11/9–11/13. The crew will be using chainsaws and a chipper and given the small area and the current use of the site we opted to close the area while the project was underway in order to protect visitors. We will instruct the contractors to use loud equipment (e.g., chainsaws) between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm to avoid noise impacts to residents on both sides of the bay. The closure also includes a few additional days in case we are delayed by weather or other factors, if there is a change in our schedule I will let you know ASAP.
There is also a media release (204 KB PDF) that will be distributed to media outlets tomorrow by headquarters, also attached. If you receive any inquiries regarding the project please direct them to me. Please forward this information as appropriate.
Thank you,
