Point Reyes National Seashore fire managers, in collaboration with the Marin County Fire Department, are monitoring conditions for an opportunity to implement a 12-acre prescribed burn west of the cypress tunnel and north of the lighthouse. This burn may begin on Friday, October 20, and is expected to last one to two days.
At approximately 8:01 pm on August 21, 2020, two firefighters notified Woodward Fire communications their exit route was compromised by fire. Sonoma County Sheriff's Office rescue helicopter Henry one was immediately requested to extract the firefighters.
Point Reyes National Seashore is closed until further notice. This closure is in effect due to the Woodward Fire that started the afternoon of Tuesday, August 18.
