![]() NPS Photo Vision StatementDaa Sáwé Tuwatéen Haa Léelk’w Hás Aaní? (What Do We See in the Future for Our Grandparents’ Land?)The backcountry of Glacier Bay National Park is an intact, dynamic wilderness where people immerse in, investigate, connect with, and preserve an ecologically and culturally significant landscape for current and future generations. Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve protects wilderness values and opportunities that are rapidly disappearing elsewhere in today’s world, offering a place of hope and inspiration. This plan guides backcountry management specific to the approximately 2.6 million acres of designated Wilderness lands and waters in Glacier Bay National Park. It provides adaptive tools for current and future park managers to continue to preserve its exceptional backcountry and wilderness visitor experiences, resources, and values into the future. Specific components of the Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan include: Part I: Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan (15mb PDF) Part II: Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan Environmental Assessment (1.3mb PDF) Part III: Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan Finding of No Significant Impact (0.7mb PDF) Appendices: Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan (0.8mb PDF) For further information, or to be added to a mailing list to implementation updates and notices for tiered public input (as conceptual actions are more defined and refined) please e-mail us.
