Glacier Bay National Park Visitor Center

  • Location: On the second floor of Glacier Bay Lodge in Bartlett Cove, 10 miles from Gustavus.

  • 2023 Hours (Closed for winter season until Memorial Day 2024): From May 27 - June 7, visitor center desk will be staffed by a Glacier Bay Park Ranger daily from 11 AM to 1 PM, and 3:30 to 4:45 PM. Beginning June 8, the desk will be staffed daily 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Natural history exhibits are available for viewing during the lodge's open hours, 6 AM to 10 PM. Check the park's Basic Information page for current hourly info.
  • Special Programs: Daily throughout the summer, park rangers show films about the park, lead walks, and offer evening programs in conjunction with tribal programs at Xunaa Shuká Hít (Huna Tribal House). Check the activities schedule.
  • Exhibits that explore the park's natural and cultural history are available in the Glacier Bay Lodge during the lodge's open hours, 6 AM to 10 PM.
  • Other Features: Information desk, fireplace, an Alaska Geographic bookstore, and quiet reading area.
 
Visitor Information Station

Visitor Information Station (VIS)

The "VIS". This is where required orientations are held for campers and boaters. The VIS is responsible for handling camping and boating permits for Glacier Bay National Park.

  • Location: Head of the public-use dock in Bartlett Cove, 10 miles from Gustavus.
  • Hours (Closed for winter season until May 2024): Spring shoulder season: April through May 26: Daily from 8 AM to 5 PM. Peak season: May 27 - August 31: daily from 7 AM to 7 PM. Fall shoulder season: September: Daily from 8 AM to 5 PM. Check the park's Basic Information page for current hourly info.

Yakutat, Alaska

Yakutat District Ranger Office (Closed Indefinitely)

This facility is operated jointly in the small town of Yakutat with neighboring Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. Yakutat is approximately 220 air miles northwest of Juneau, 218 miles southeast of Cordova, and 342 air miles south of Anchorage.
