Glacier Bay Lodge

Aurora borealis fills the night sky with curtain-like shapes of green and pink, with a few stars visible behind these "northern lights." The glacier bay lodge sits covered in snow with snowy spruce trees flanking its buildings. — One fateful night in February 2023, the sky danced with color above the Glacier Bay Lodge. The aurora borealis is a rare nighttime wonder that is seen most frequently in winter. While the lodge closes in winter, the park and its commercial partners help maintain it year-round.

The Historic Glacier Bay Lodge and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Visitor Center

The Glacier Bay Lodge is located in Bartlett Cove, 10 miles by road from the small town of Gustavus. Alaska Airlines and air taxis make daily flights from Juneau to Gustavus. The Glacier Bay Lodge offers rooms, a restaurant, fabulous wilderness views, a daily tour boat, a souvenir gift shop, fuel sales, and more.

The Glacier Bay Lodge will be open from May 21 through September 8, 2026!*

The following hours reflect 2026 hours and are determined annually by the Glacier Bay Lodge. For National Park Service hours including park ranger availability, check the Basic Information page. *First guest check-in on May 21, last guest check-out on September 8. Expect full lodge operation (including daily tour boat) from May 22 through September 7.

The lodge operates a shuttle bus to transport guests between the lodge and the Gustavus airport or ferry terminal. Additionally, there are taxi services available in Gustavus (Check the Gustavus Visitors' Association's "Getting Around Gustavus" page) to transport you between the town of Gustavus and Bartlett Cove.
