Park rangers offer a variety of engaging field trips, in-classroom programs, and virtual educational experiences. We can even tailor a program to meet your specific curriculum and educational needs, providing a unique and immersive learning opportunity for your students. To Schedule A Field TripCheck out this webpage and then please email whis_information@nps.gov or call 530 242 3450 to plan your field trip or ranger-in-classroom program. All programs must be scheduled at least one month in advance. We offer in-classroom and virtual programs year-round and field trip programs in September, October, November, March, April and early May. Featured In-Classroom Program :Every Kid Outdoors: 4th Grader National Park System Pass4th Grade, one hour, In-Classroom. Students will be introduced to the U.S. National Park System during this interactive, in-classroom presentation. At the end of the program, the park ranger will issue each 4th grader a National Park System pass which gives the student and their family carload free entry into almost 430 national park units across the country. On-Site Field TripsThe Wintu of Whiskeytown3rd-5th Grade, 2 hours, Field Trip program at Tower House Historic District. During this place-based field trip program, 3rd graders will gain a deeper understanding of the indigenous heritage of the local area. Students will rotate through a series of three interactive activities focused on Wintu geography, Wintu use of native plants (ethnobotany), and indigenous use of fire. This program was developed in consultation with Redding Rancheria.
