Wildlife at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area

Whiskeytown supports abundant and diverse animal populations, thanks to the numerous vegetation communities within the park. Through the Klamath Network Inventory and Monitoring Program, wildlife inventories have documented a wide range of species, including birds, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and bats.

The park is home to several notable species, including:

  • Four federally threatened wildlife species
  • One federal candidate species
  • Twelve federal species of concern
  • One California threatened species
  • Ten California species of concern

These findings highlight the importance of conservation and monitoring efforts to protect Whiskeytown’s unique wildlife.
