Choosing an Entrance Pass

Do you have or qualify for a discounted America the Beautiful Pass?

If you already have an America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, that's the only entrance pass you need. Seniors, military, visitors with a permanent disability, and families with a 4th grader are eligible for a free or discounted America the Beautiful pass.

Standard Entrance Pass

For Vehicles

If you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass.

Private Vehicle

$25.00

Park Entrance is $25 per vehicle and is good for 7 days.

Motorcycle

$20.00

Park entrance for motorcycles is $20 per motorcycles and is good for 7 days.

For Individuals without a Vehicle

If you enter the park on a bicycle or on foot and are at least 16 years old, you need your own entrance pass. Children under the age of 16 don't need an entrance pass.

Valid at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Crater Lake National Park, and Lava Beds National Monument for twelve months from the date of purchase, for unlimited visits to all four parks. It admits the pass holder and any accompanying persons in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle, or the pass holder and 3 others when entry is by other means (bicycle and foot). This pass covers entrance fees only and is not refundable and/or transferable.

America the Beautiful Passes are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Passholders must show valid photo identification (ID) with each pass.

How to Get an America the Beautiful Pass

In Person (Recommended)

Passes can be purchased or picked up at over 1,000 federal recreation sites.

Order Online, Receive by Mail

To receive your pass by mail, order online at the USGS Online Store . Online orders are for physical passes, not digital passes, and may take up to three weeks to be processed and delivered. Order receipts may not be used in place of a physical pass. We recommend ordering at least three weeks in advance of your visit, or picking up a pass in person instead.

2024 Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

Come experience the national parks! All National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone (other fees, including timed entry or reservation fees, may apply). Mark your calendar for these entrance fee-free dates:

• Monday, January 15 — Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
• Saturday, April 20 — First Day of National Park Week
• Wednesday, June 19 — Juneteenth
• Sunday, August 4 — The Great American Outdoors Act
• Saturday, September 28 — National Public Lands Day
• Monday, November 11 — Veterans Day

 

Entrance Passes can be purchased at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center, Online at recreation.gov, or through the Interangency Passes site above.

 

Academic Entrance Fee Wavier

Groups from bona fide educational institutions are eligible for an entrance fee waiver if they are coming to study park resources. Requests should be sent at least 2 weeks in advance of visit using the Application for Academic Fee Waiver form.

 

2024 Whiskeytown/Lassen Volcanic Annual Pass

Annual Passes

New in 2024, the Interagency Annual and Whiskeytown Annual Passes will have one signature line for a single passholder. An unexpired 2023 Annual Pass with two signature lines will continue to allow up to two motorcycles if both riders have signed the pass.

Whiskeytown NRA Multipark - 2024 Annual Pass

Cost $55 (U.S. Dollars)
Valid at Whiskeytown NRA, Lassen Volcanic NP, Crater Lake NP, and Lava Beds National Monument for twelve months from the date of purchase, for unlimited visits to all four parks. It admits the purchaser and any accompanying persons in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle, or the purchaser and accompanying immediate family (spouse, children, parents) when entry is by other means (bus, bicycle, and foot).

This pass covers entrance fees only and is not refundable and/or transferable.

 

2024 America the Beautiful Annual Pass

Available for: Everyone

National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass

This pass, available to the general public, provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee - for a year - beginning from the date of sale. The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas (children under 16 are admitted free).

America the Beautiful - 2024 Annual Military Pass

Cost: Free

Available for: Active Duty Military

For active duty military personnel and dependents with proper identification (CAC Card or DD Form 1173). The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas (children under 16 are admitted free).

America the Beautiful - 2024 Annual Senior Pass

Cost: $80 Lifetime Senior Pass or $20 Annual Senior Pass

Available for: US citizens or permanent residents ages 62 or over. Applicants must provide documentation of age and residency or citizenship.

Annual 4th Grade Pass

Cost: Free

Available for: U.S. 4th graders (including home-schooled and free-choice learners 10 years of age) with a valid Every Kid in a Park paper pass. Valid for the duration of the 4th grade school year through the following summer (September-August).The pass admits the passholder and all passengers in a non-commercial vehicle where per-vehicle fees are charged or the pass holder +3 adults for per-person fee areas (children under 16 are admitted free).The pass does not cover other recreation fees such as campground fees.

How to get your pass: Paper passes can be obtained by visiting the Every Kid in a Park website and printing a temporary paper pass. Bring the paper pass to the Whiskeytown Visitor center and exchange in-person for a 4th grade pass. The 4th grader needs to be present. Digital version of the paper pass (such as on smart phones or tablets) will not be accepted to exchange for an Annual 4th Grade Pass.The pass is non-transferable.
