Roanoke Island Historical Association

The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is the producing organization of The Lost Colony for over 80 years. The mission of RIHA is to commemorate the history of the first English colonies in North America on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. This mission is primarily accomplished by the annual production of the symphonic outdoor drama The Lost Colony, and through educationally engaging events and programs.

Every year from early June through August, visitors can watch the Lost Colony Monday-Saturday. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the RIHA website. Park passes do not apply for ticket sales.

Park Partners:

  • The Elizabethan Gardens: Fanciful and elaborate gardens were designed to entertain Queen Elizabeth I during her reign. This garden was created for enjoyment, and as a living memorial to the time when Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colonists lived in this very place over 400 years ago. Located adjacent to the Fort Raleigh Visitor Center.
