The visitor center for Fort Raleigh National Historic Site is located at:

1500 Fort Raleigh Road
Manteo, NC 27954

In the visitor center area there is:

• A paved asphalt parking lot.
• A visitor drop-off area in the in front of the visitor center.
• A restroom building to the left of the Visitor Center building.
• Visitor Center.
• Shaded, but unpaved picnic area.
• Access to the Waterside Theater.
• Access to the Hariot Trail, Freedom Trail, and reconstructed earthwork.

• Paved paths connecting all of these places.

Information Desk

• For visitors who speech-read or lipread, you are welcome to request that the ranger on duty lowers their mask (if applicable).

Exhibits

• There are two video screens in the exhibit space. One in the Elizabethan Room has open captions on a separate screen. It provides dramatic reenactment of the motivations for the various voyages to Roanoke Island. The other screen is located in the exhibit room and discusses the theories of what happened to the Lost Colony. It contains open captions.

• The park film plays with open captions.

ASL Interpretation

If you need assistance, contact the park for ASL interpretation at least two weeks in advance of your visit by calling 252-475-9001. Due to interpreters having to travel from other parts of the state, as much advanced notification of ASL interpretation as possible is appreciated.

Ranger Programs

Rangers will use voice amplification for those who are hard of hearing. Please let the ranger know if you require specific accommodation prior to the beginning of a program.
