Your Fee Dollars at Work

The National Park Service collects Recreation Fees under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Recreation Fees provide a vital source of revenue for improving facilities and services for park visitors.

While Fort Raleigh National Historic Site is a fee-free park, it is managed jointly with Wright Brothers National Memorial and Cape Hatteras National Seashore as part of the Outer Banks Group. Recreational fees collected at these other parks can support projects at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Some improvements take place behind-the-scenes. Others may be a direct part of your park experience, like an exhibit, accessible trail or bike pathway. All of these projects are important to the continued preservation of your national parks.
