The staff at Shenandoah National Park manages roughly 200,000 acres of public land, including Skyline Drive, over 500 miles of hiking trails, and approximately 80,000 acres of designated Wilderness. Under the mission of the National Park Service, our purpose as stewards of Shenandoah was set forth by the Organic Act of 1916:
Every employee, from our law enforcement rangers to our auto mechanics, carries these words with them when they enact resource management plans or perform their daily duties. You can help us to protect our precious resources by following all laws and policies and doing your part to be a good steward of Shenandoah National Park.
