We want you to make the best of your visit to Shenandoah National Park. From this page you can learn about the laws and policies that we have put in place for your safety, the safety of the park, and to maximize the experience of all our visitors in Shenandoah National Park.

Permits and Reservations are required for a variety of activities in Shenandoah National Park. Special use permits are required for special events such as weddings, commercial filming, and group bicycle rides. Backcountry camping requires a permit, while some of our campgrounds allow reservations.

Pets are allowed on most trails in Shenandoah National Park, however there are some exceptions. If you are planning to bring your furry friends make sure to review where they can go before you set off.

Posts on social media are meant to spark engagement. While robust comments are expected, we encourage commentors to be respectful. Shenandoah National Park reserves the right to delete comments or turn off comments on a social media post.

    Commercial business activity is prohibited within Shenandoah National Park unless a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) has been granted.
