Partnership Program SpecialistThe Partnership Program Specialist will amplify the untold stories of Lewis Mountain in Shenandoah National Park and a Rosenwald School in Luray, Virginia. By engaging with descendants and establishing connections with other historic sites, the Partnership Program Specialist will foster a deeper understanding of the role of such spaces in American history. Lewis Mountain, the only designated area within the park Black visitors during the Jim Crow era, offers a unique lens into the complex history of segregation and integration in the United States. This Rosenwald School is a prime example of the educational legacy of Booker T. Washington and Julius Rosenwald. The Partnership Program Specialist will collaborate with these and other historic sites to create a comprehensive narrative of African American history and education in the area. Activities will include establishing relationships with local institutions, conducting research, creating educational materials, and organizing community events.
