Jean Lafitte volunteers do a wide variety of projects from taking pictures at events to dressing in period clothes---sometimes both at the same time!

The National Park Service cares for America's treasures, and you can help.

  • Be a good park visitor. Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints. Remember that future visitors will come after you. You can help give them the chance to enjoy these American treasures, too.
  • Volunteer. There's nothing more rewarding than warm thanks from visitors who have experienced the wonders of the park! Find out about special volunteer opportunities in the park! From park cleanups to living history programs, learn how to get involved by following Jean Lafitte on our park social media.
  • Support park stores. Stores run by cooperating associations in national parks donate a share of their sales to help fund various park needs. Each one of Jean Lafitte's sites has a park store with NPS and park collectibles, and more.
  • Donate to Jean Lafitte (email the park to find out how). If you donate directly to the park, the entire gift will fund numerous park projects, like special exhibits and the Junior Ranger program. These donations help preserve natural areas or cultural treasures. Your check will be deposited in a government account and the full amount will support park needs. No administrative cost will be deducted.
  • Donate to the National Park Foundation, the official charitable partner of the National Park Service. Your support can fund volunteer projects, special exhibits, education programs for all ages, and scientific research.
  • Stay in touch with Jean Lafitte via social media.
