The National Park Service collects Recreation Fees under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Recreation Fees provide a vital source of revenue for improving facilities and services for park visitors. That means that the money you spend on entrance fees, camping reservations and Wilderness permits is being put to use to make the park—and your visit—better. Some improvements take place behind-the-scenes. Others may be a direct part of your park experience, like an interactive museum exhibit, preservation projects, or even a new vault toilet. All of these projects are important to the continued preservation of your national parks. Thanks to all of you that have paid for an entrance fee or a campground reservation, a Wilderness permit reservation or bought a park pass.

Funds generated by the fees are used to accomplish projects the parks have been unable to fund through yearly Congressional allocations. Your entrance and campground fees help Guadalupe Mountains National Park complete important projects that directly benefit you and other park visitors.

Projects made possible with your fees:

• Removal of latex paint on the ranchhouse and other structures at Frijole Ranch and application of a lime wash treatmeant to restore the historic character and appearance of the building.
• Repointing, stabilization, and placement of new grout on the remaining wall of the historic Pinery Station ruin at Pine Springs.
• Repair work and maintenance of the Marcus and Bush Mountain Trails
