Camping Options Outside the Park

Please be aware that there are NO overflow campsites in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. If you plan on visiting the Guadalupe Mountains during the busiest times of the year and do not have reservations, it is best to come prepared with alternative plans for lodging or camping outside of the park. If you camp in parking lots or along park roadsides you will be cited.

Northeast of Guadalupe Mountains National Park – New Mexico

Chosa Campground Area - Bureau of Land Management
Situated on County Rd 424 (also called Dillahunty Rd), between Mile Marker 8 and 9 on US 62/180. (30 mi from the park.) Tent and RV dry dispersed camping with a 3 night maximum stay - no amenities, 4 acres of fenced land.

Sunset Reef Campground – Bureau of Land Management
Fenced campground located off Washington Ranch Rd, located between Mile Marker 10 and 11 on US 62/180. First dirt road to your right on Washington Ranch Rd. (32 miles from the park.) Dry camping area with five RV spaces and six tent sites. Each site has a covered picnic table and grill for camping convenience. Vault toilet are on site. 5 night maximum stay.
