Guided Walking Tours: Frederica Town Tour: Join a park ranger for a guided walking tour down Broad Street to learn about the history of Fort Frederica National Monument. The walk is about a ¼ mile and lasts about 30 minutes. Town tours are offered daily at 11am. Check in at the Visitors Center as tours are dependent on staff availability.

Ranger Choice Programs: Join a park ranger for a program highlighting the history or nature of Fort Frederica. Ranging from miltary history, colonial America history, African-American History, and more! These programs will range fron 15 minutes to 30 mintues. Check in at the Visitors Center as talks are dependent on staff availability.

Junior Ranger Program: Ask at the Visitor Center to participate in Fort Frederica’s Junior Ranger Program! Suitable for children 8 years old and up, Junior Rangers will be given a haversack of tools to complete their quest through Fort Frederica. Jr. Rangers can also complete the Angler, and Archaeology Junior Ranger books to receive the Fort Frederica Master Patch. All books, badges, and patches are located at the Visitor Center.

Scavenger Hunt: Explore Fort Frederica National Monument by following our scavenger hunt! The first clue is located in the Visitor Center breezeway. If you complete the scavenger hunt and find the secret word, you might win a prize!

Living History: Catch a glimpse of what life would have been like in the 1700s with our living history volunteers. Volunteers host programs on Saturdays from November to March demonstrating historic trades, skills, and chores. Programs take place outside the Visitor Center. Check in at the Visitors Center as programs are dependent on staff availability.

Hiking Trails: There are several hiking trails at Fort Frederica National Monument. The Yacht Club Trail, Marsh Trail, and Oglethorpe’s House Trail take you through the woods surrounding the town of Frederica, highlighting the natural beauty of Saint Simons Island. Together, there are about 2 miles of grass and sand trails on the grounds. Hiking is not recommended in the summer months due to biting insects, heat, and wet conditions. Trail maps are available in the Visitor Center.

Biking: Biking is not allowed within the grounds of Fort Frederica National Monument. There are bike racks and a repair station located in front of the Visitor Center.

Fishing: Fishing in the Frederica River is allowed only from the dock located at the southwestern end of the grounds. The dock is only accessible by walking.
