Wheelchairs and Golf Cart Tours: Wheelchair loans are available first-come, first-serve free of charge. Ask at the Visitor Center desk for more information. Golf cart tours of the grounds are available based on staff availability free of charge. If you would like to schedule ahead of time, please call 912-638-3639.

Water: A water fountain, water bottle filling station, and dog water fountain are in the breezeway next to the Visitor Center. Water and sodas can be purchased from the vending machine that is cash only.

Service Dogs: Fort Frederica National Monument follows National Park Service policy relating to service dogs. The National Park Service defines a service dog as “a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” To view the policy, please click here (Service Animals in National Parks (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) Emotional support animals, as well as other pets, are not permitted in the Visitor Center. They are allowed on the grounds as long as they are on a leash and under control at all times.

Parking Lot: There are two designated accessible parking spaces next to the Visitor Center. There is bus parking in the first lot on your right when entering the park gates. The parking lot is a paved one-way loop right next to the Visitor Center.

Visitor Center: There is one entrance to the Visitor Center, accessible by ramp or stairs. The ramp is located to the right of the stairs when entering the Visitor Center from the parking lot. Double doors on the Visitor Center open outwards and can be operated automatically by a button to the left of the entrance. Exhibit areas are accessible, but tight turns may be necessary.There is an audio tour of the exhibits in the Visitor Center. Please ask at the desk for the audio device.There is also a braille book of our exhibits. Please ask at the Visitor Center front desk for the binder.

Theater: Access to the theater is to the right of the Visitor Center desk through double doors. Doors can be propped open if needed. Each side of the theater is wide enough for a wheelchair. Seating is stationary fold-out theater chairs.The park film is closed captioned.

Bathrooms: Bathrooms are located across the breezeway from the Visitor Center. Doors are heavy and open outwards. Tight turns may be required to enter bathroom. Accessible stalls are in both bathrooms, and the door opens inward and both can be opened with an automatic button. Handrails are present.

Grounds: A paved walkway and boardwalk connect the Visitor Center to the entrance of the town grounds. Broad Street, the main path to the fort, is unpaved. It is compacted grass and sand and is a quarter mile in length. The path to Abbott Monument and the Archaeology Lab is compacted sand. The rest of the site, including the town site, fort, burial grounds, picnic area, and living history area, are grass and sand.The Yacht Club Trail, Marsh Trail, and Oglethorpe’s House Trail are sand, dirt, and grass.

Picnic Area: Picnic area is accessible through the Visitor Center or from the parking lot on a paved sidewalk. The tables are on grass and sand. All four tables are wheelchair accessible.

Archaeology Lab: The Archaeology Lab is located a quarter of a mile walk from the Visitor Center parking lot. The walkway is sand and grass. The Lab is accessible by ramp or stairs. A single restroom with a handrail is located within the Lab.

Research Library: The Research Library is located on the other end of the breezeway from the Visitor Center. It is accessible by ramp or by stairs. Tight turns may be necessary.
