Field Trips

We recommend scheduling a ranger-led education program to get the most out of your field trip. Both Camp Tulelake and Tule Lake Segregation Center are gated and require a ranger to access. Program requests should be made at least 6 weeks in advance of the field trip. Much of the Tule Lake Segregation Center is now privately owned, so we recommend talking to rangers ahead of time to ensure your group doesn't trespass on private property.

Ranger education programs include tours through Camp Tulelake, (a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, that was later used as Prisoner of War camp for German and Italian POWs. Unavailable in 2022.

Teachers can also request tours of the jail at the Tule Lake Segregation Center, which also includes hands on activates that walk your students through the relocation and segregation process. A PowerPoint presentation about Japanese American history from the 1800's to current, can be requested as part of the on-site tour or in advance of a field trip.

To schedule a field trip, please e-mail or call the education coordinator at 530-667-8119.
