Tule Lake National MonumentThe National Monument includes both the Tule Lake Segregation Center and Camp Tulelake. The visitor center is located 8 miles south of Tulelake CA along Hwy 139 at 44340 Hwy 139. Tulelake, CA 96134. We are the only driveway off the highway between County Rd 113 & 176. The Tule Lake Segregation Center was a maximum security facility with its own jail. Today, it is one of the few buildings that remain. Camp Tulelake
The camp was first built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935. During WWII, it held Japanese Americans, then German and Italian POWs.
