Robert Caldwell
Robert Caldwell was a Confederate soldier.

Robert Caldwell – son of Thomas Caldwell. Born 1847. Former Confederate soldier. Former student who joined the Liberty Guards of the 46th Virginia Infantry when he was 18 years old. He was wounded at Petersburg. Caldwell was one of nine men left in his company at the time of the surrender.

John Dennett, newspaper reporter

John Dennett was a reporter for the New York newspaper, The Nation. He travelled the South immediately after the war to document the stories of people from all walks of life. During the summer of 1865 he visited Appomattox.

Isaiah Edwards was a private in the Union Army.

Isaiah Edwards is a soldier of the 188th PA. Isaiah has been brought back with his unit acting as Provost Guards. Their job is to re-instate law and order in Appomattox County.vide

Maria Meeks
Maria Meeks, wife of Francis Meeks, the owner of Meeks General Merchandise

NPS

Mariah Meeks: Mrs. Meeks is the wife of Francis Meeks, the owner of Meeks General Merchandise, and the mother of Lafayette meeks who died in 1861 while fighting for the Confederacy. She witnessed many of the events that occurred at Appomattox.
 
Freed Black Man from Appomattox County
Abe Reynolds was a freed black man who lived near Appomattox Court House.
Abram Reynolds was a free man that lived near the village. He was the husband of Hannah who was the only civilian casualty during the Battle of Appomattox Court House.
