CHICAGO, IL – On Friday, September 1, 2023, the National Park Service (NPS) asks for input on the Joint General Management Plan (JGMP) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Pullman National Historical Park and Pullman State Historic Site. Pullman National Monument was established in 2015 through presidential proclamation and redesignated as Pullman National Historical Park (historical park) in 2022. The historical park is co-located with Pullman State Historic Site (historic site) that was established in 1991.

The JGMP establishes a management philosophy and framework for future decision-making at the historical park and historic site. The JGMP also provides guidance to the NPS and IDNR on working with partners throughout the community to implement the management actions recommended in the plan. The JGMP was drafted by an NPS-IDNR planning team over the past 18 months while consulting with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, stakeholders, residents, and other interested parties. To learn more about the JGMP and EA, please join us for one of the following information sharing sessions:

  • Saturday, September 2: Open House from 1-5pm at the Chicago Labor Day Parade and Eddie Fest

  • Thursday, September 7: 5-6pm Virtually via Zoom

The JGMP and associated EA for Pullman National Historical Park and State Historic Site will be available for public review for 45 days from September 1, 2023 to October 15, 2023. To review and comment on the JGMP and EA, visit the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) website: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/pullmanjgmp
