The new NPS Visitor Center is universally accessible and has many features for people with varying abilities. The exhibits were developed following universal design principles, with no barriers and include audio, visual, and tactile components. Wheel Chair Accessibility FeaturesThe NPS Visitor Center parking lot features several accessible parking spots. There are no stairs to enter the NPS Visitor Center building or to access any of the amenities. Our indoor exhibits are wheelchair friendly including low level accessibility and clearance. Restrooms and the drinking fountain follow ADA accessibility design, and there is a family restroom that can accommodate an assistant. Park staff will have a lightweight wheelchair that can be checked out for loan at the Visitor Center front desk. Should you need the wheelchair to traverse from the parking lot to the front entrance door, simply call our front desk and ask for assistance (773 928-7257). The Illinois State Historic Site grounds, which surround the NPS Visitor Center, feature accessible sidewalks and ramps to make it easy to explore. Pullman National Historical Park is located in an historic neighborhood in south Chicago. As such, there are plenty of handicap accessible street parking and public sidewalks for those interested in exploring the Historic District.
