National Park Service will close Arlington Memorial Bridge over the weekend of October 30

McLean, Va. – The National Park Service (NPS) will completely close Arlington Memorial Bridge from 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. This temporary closure will allow the NPS to move equipment and repair pavement on the south side of the bridge.

When the bridge reopens on Nov. 2, one lane will be open eastbound and one lane will be open westbound. Pedestrians and bicyclists will use the sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. The NPS will post signs for pedestrians and bicyclists to follow.

The NPS is also continuing work to make the roads and trails at Memorial Circle safer. As the NPS announced in September, we are repaving, installing new signs and improving crosswalks in and around the circle.

The Arlington Memorial Bridge rehabilitation project is one of the largest construction projects in NPS history. Work began in spring 2018 and is expected to be completed on-time in early 2021.
