Things to Do:1. Year-Round:Bicycling and Hiking:From sunrise to sunset, you can explore one of 3 easy hiking trails in Fort Hunt Park:
Picnic:From sunrise to sunset, you can recreate on several large fields, picnic, and bring your own grill (see below for grill safety). Some picnic areas require reservations. Learn more about Fort Hunt Reservation. You can explore the outsides of Batteries Robinson, Sater, Porter, and Mount Vernon. The batteries are closed to the public because they were lined with asbestos during World War II and used to safeguard nitrate film roles from the National Archives. Restrooms, water fountains, and trash cans are available year-round at Pavilion A and B. These are available for reservations. Area E also has restrooms and is available year-round, first-come, first-served. 2. Spring through FallFrom April 1 through October 31, Areas A, B, C-1, C-2, C-3 and D are available for daytime reservations from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through recreation.gov. June-AugustIn June, July, and August, there are free concerts at Fort Hunt’s Pavilion A on Sunday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check out the schedule of events.
