Join Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument on Saturday, March 12th as we celebrate the 158th birthday of Brigadier General Charles Young. The celebration will take place at the National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio. Distinguished guest speakers will reflect on General Young’s life and legacy.
This special event will feature keynote speaker Brigadier General Robert Crear, U.S. Army Retired. General Crear’s service in the Army spanned 33 years and took him around the globe. In Iraq in 2003, he was Commander of Task Force Restore Iraqi Oil. He established, trained and led the task force armed with a four billion dollar budget. The task force was responsible for extinguishing all oil well fires, restoring oil infrastructure, production restoration and export capability. Domestically, he commanded Task Force Hope, a multi-billion dollar recovery and restoration project in Mississippi and Louisiana after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. General Crear is a graduate of Jackson State University and has a Masters degree from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Currently, General Crear holds the position of Distinguished Visiting Lecturer of Applied Engineering, National Security and Homeland Security at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. He is founder and CEO of The Crear Group consulting firm and he is Chairman of Free Flow Development, LLC.
This event is free and open to the public to attend. COVID-19 precautions will be observed. Properly fitted face masks are required to be worn in order to attend the event.
