The 100th Commemoration Event celebrating the life and legacy of Colonel Charles Young. The event took place on January 8th, 2022 and the event's keynote speaker was Lieutenant General Xavier T. On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, cadets from Maurader Battalion ROTC at Central State University participated in a special training exercise at Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument. Cadets were introduced to the U.S. Army’s UH-60 Blackhawk when two of the helicopters from the Ohio National Guard’s 137th Aviation Regiment arrived at the park to conduct a short training exercise. The crews also provided the cadets with valuable insight and information into military aviation career opportunities.

Park staff and volunteers take part in an art program that is centered around expression and exercise. Participants were able to make works of art crafted from their own imagination. Some standard tools were utilized, but what gives this program its uniqueness was the ability of participants to use non-traditional art tools, such as boxing gloves, paint cans, painters’ stencils, wooden tools and their bare hands. |
