Directions

The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is located in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine is located on Florida’s Northeastern Atlantic coast about midway between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach.

Nearby Jacksonville and Daytona are served by international airports with easy access to I-95. Rental cars are available at the airports and also in St. Augustine.

From I-95: Take the exit for St. Augustine Historic Sites and Downtown (State Road 16, Exit 318). Follow 16 to US 1; turn right and follow US 1 for approximately one mile to West Castillo Drive. Turn left and follow West Castillo to the traffic light at San Marco Avenus. Turn right at the light, and the Castillo and parking lot are ahead on the left.

From US A1A: The Castillo is located on A1A in downtown St. Augustine.

 

Parking

The City of St Augustine maintains a parking lot in front of the Castillo. The cost is $2.50 per hour, paid at automated stations which accept most denominations of U.S. coin and currency as well as credit and debit cards.

The city also offers a parking garage, accessed from West Castillo Drive, which is a short walk from the Castillo. It is conveniently located and will provide shade for your vehicle.

Oversized parking

Only vehicles 21 feet or shorter, including any trailers, are permitted to park in the Castillo lot. The City of St. Augustine provides free parking for larger vehicles at the corner of West Castillo Drive and Riberia Street. The lot is approximately three blocks from the Castillo and visitors may use the Castillo's lot to drop off and pick up passengers.
