Aliante Trailhead Parking Now Available at Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument
LAS VEGAS –
Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Aliante Parking Lot in North Las Vegas on November 13th with City of North Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem, Councilman Cherchio and Councilman Black in attendance. The City of North Las Vegas, with the assistance of a local community developer (Lennar Homes), completed the North Aliante Parkway Kiosk Parking Area to allow visitors a safer, more accessible parking area at Tule Springs Fossil Beds NM. The newly paved parking area has twelve parking stalls to include one fully accessible stall. Founded in 2014, Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument is an urban National Monument that shares boundaries with residential communities in Las Vegas and North Las Vegas. The Monument will continue to collaborate with the City to improve pedestrian safety at different access points to the National Monument.
This new parking lot services the trailhead for the Aliante Loop Temporary Trail, the Monument’s first recreational trail that was announced earlier this year. This 3.25-mile loop is suitable for hiking, walking leashed pets, and biking, and features five virtual interpretive stops highlighting the natural history of Tule Springs Fossil Beds. The trail offers year-round scenic views of the Las Vegas Range and geologic features of the Monument, and wildflower blooms in the Spring.
Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument will continue providing recreational opportunities collaboratively with our partners, as the formal park planning process moves forward in the coming years. To learn more or plan your visit to the Monument, visit www.NPS.gov/TUSK
