Did you know?

Nearly 300,000 volunteers donate more than 6.5 million hours of service in a typical year across the National Park Service - for a value of more than $185 million! Regardless of the format of this service, volunteers are an essential part of the NPS and help us to meet our mission.

Throughout 2022, Steamtown National Historic Site hosted a total of 152 volunteers who contributed over 9,150 hours. Impressive!

Volunteer opportunities at Steamtown are diverse - from visitor services to railroad operations, from working in the locomotive shop to transcribing historical records. Our varied opportunities exist to help fulfill the mission of the National Park Service and preserve this important part our industrial heritage!
