Congaree Watersheds: The Santee River Watershed area at Trezvant's landing (located at the top of Lake Marion) is basically the Watershed for Congaree National Park. The upper reaches of this watershed stretch into North Carolina. This expansive watershed covers an area of 14,100 square miles (36,519 square kilometers).

Cedar Creek Stream Gauge inside Congaree NP: View real-time monitoring data from Cedar Creek (USGS 02169672 CEDAR CREEK AT CONGAREE NP NEAR GADSDEN, SC). When the water level reads 4 - 6 feet, paddling is ideal. When water levels are below 2 feet, paddling is not recommended. The park's boardwalk starts to go under water around 8 feet.

Congaree River Stream Gauge at West Boundary Rd., Congaree NP: View real-time monitoring data from the Congaree River (USGS 02169625 CONGAREE RIVER AT CONGAREE NP NEAR GADSDEN, SC). When the water level at this gauge reaches 15 feet, water begins to overtop river levees which greatly expands connectiviy between the river and its floodplains.
