Extreme Fire Danger! No Open Fires Permitted in the Preserve. No Fireworks, Campfires, Charcoal fires, or smoking within 10 feet of vegetation is allowed. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves are okay
NPS
Preserve the preserve from unintended wildfires. Summer heat and windy conditions make even the sparse desert vegetation susceptible to extreme fire conditions, as seen in the 2023 York and the 2020 Dome fires. Make sure that the Joshua tree woodland and other unique habitats are here for wildlife and future generations to enjoy.
Report any smoke, dry lightning strikes, or other fire sightings immediately to emergency services at 9-1-1
