Hampton is easy to get to because it's close to three interstate highways--routes 695, 70, and 95. From the Baltimore Beltway (I 695) eastbound or westbound: Take Exit 27B, Dulaney Valley Road northbound. Take the first right turn onto Hampton Lane. The park will be on your right, about one mile from the intersection. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Bus #11 stops at Goucher College, less than one mile from Hampton. The Light Rail stop at Lutherville is approximately three miles from Hampton NHS.

The Visitor Contact Station is open 9am – 4pm Thursday through Sunday. Grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk. Park is closed every year on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. The park, or portions of the park, may be closed at any time for weather, emergency, or security reasons in order to protect the resource, visitors, and staff. Park gates may also be closed during these situations.

Weather during the spring and fall months tend to be mild. Visitors can expect mild to severe seasonal weather during the winter and summer months. Inclement weather may impact park hours of operation year round. Refer to the park alerts or call ahead to confirm operating hours.

Visitor Center

The Hampton Visitor Center, historic buildings, and interpretive operations are open Thursdays - Sundays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tickets for mansion tours, park brochures, and passport stamps are available in the Visitor Center. Amenities include restrooms, gift shop, and a water bottle refill station.

The Hampton Visitor Contact Station is located right next to the main lot on the mansion side of the park. The contact station, historic structures, and interpretive operations are open Thursdays - Sundays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Welcome to Hampton National Historic Site!

Hampton National Historic Site is open year round, with the exception of some federal holidays. The scenic grounds and gardens are open daily for visitors to enjoy at their own pace, even on holidays when the parking lots and visitor center may otherwise be closed. Recreational visitors may access the park from dawn to dusk (parking outside the park when gates are closed).

Outbuildings containing exhibits, and the restrooms located in the Orangery and Dove Cote (near Overseer’s House) are open Thursday-Sunday from 9:00AM - 4:00PM.

Visitors to Hampton National Historic Site can start their visit before leaving home. Download the new NPS App which is the official app for over 425 NPS sites. The NPS App will act as your virtual visitor center! The multimedia page on our website is a good way to become familiar with the park’s history. Virtual tours, self-guided tours, videos, and photo galleries are also found on the same page on our website.

Even a short visit can be a memorable one! Visitors are free to explore the 62.4 acre park that is home to several state champion trees, a falling garden, dozens of historic structures, and various birds and other wildlife. Visiting Hampton National Historic Site is a great way to spend a morning, afternoon, or the entire day. We have so much to see and do that we encourage visitors to return, and return often. We recommend that you plan to spend at least 2 hours on site but you are more than welcome to stay longer.
