[Harpers Ferry, IA] - Join a Night Sky Ranger on Monday, July 25th from 9:30-11:00 PM to explore the nocturnal realms of Effigy Mounds National Monument! We will meet at the Visitor Center at 9:30 PM for orientation and a brief mounds program followed by a guided night hike along the Yellow River Boardwalk! Be sure to dress warm and prepare for mosquitos. Red lights and headlamps ONLY.
Call us at 563-873-3491, e-mail us at EFMO_Interpretation@nps.gov, or stop by the Visitor Center to reserve your spot! Please leave your name, phone number, and the number of spaces you would like reserved for the event.
Effigy Mounds National Monument preserves a large concentration of mounds, including many Effigy Mounds in the shape of animals. The 14 miles of hiking trails provide an insight into the social, spiritual, and ceremonial life of the Native peoples who inhabited and revered this land for thousands of years.
