Virtual or Classroom Programs

There are a few different ways to connect your classroom to Aztec Ruins National Monument without being on site. Teachers can request a virtual program or a scheduled time for a ranger to visit their classroom. Please complete an Education Reservation Request Form (PDF, 390 KB) and email it to AZRU_Education@nps.gov

Portrait of a Community Virtual Program

This is a 7th grade curriculum-based Ranger-led virtual program that brings students on a journey back in time to explore the advanced problem-solving skills of the Chacoan people while examining concepts of self-identity, trade, and celestial alignments through a symbol of the Chacoan Culture: elaborately woven sandals. This program is suitable for grades 7 and above.

Teachers must conduct the pre-visit activity listed below prior to the virtual Ranger-led program. The teacher-led post-visit discussion and worksheet of the Portrait of a Community program are also listed:

A National Park Service employee working on repairing the stone of a sandstone structure.
A stone mason working at Aztec Ruins National Monument.
