Collection of vegetation response data.

Vegetation Response
To determine the differences in vegetation response between treatments, 200 vegetation plots were established. In each plot microhabitat parameters (slope, aspect, and canopy cover), vegetation parameters (percent cover by species, height of tallest individual by life form, and frequency of species), and substrate parameters (substrate type, cover, and depth) were measured.

Soil samples were collected in the project area and added to 90 growing pots filled with washed sand and potting mix. The seedlings in these pots were allowed to grow until they could be identified to the species level and were then recorded and pulled.
