Safety

Outdoor Safety

Summer in Texas can be hot. June, July, and August temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees. Drink plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen, and take it easy.

Nature can pose hazards; stay on trails and be aware of fire ants, cacti, armadillo holes, etc.

If you are planning to walk on the nature trails, please wear proper footwear like closed-toe shoes.

Tour Safety

The majority of your dig site tour (20-30 minutes) will take place in the climate controlled Dig Shelter. However, the first 10-15 minutes of your guided tour will take place outdoors.

While inside the Dig Shelter, please no climbing or sitting on the rails of the elevated walkway.

In the case of hazardous weather, tours may be postponed or suspended to ensure visitor safety.
