CHEYENNE, Oklahoma: We invite you to stop by the visitor center to see our new interpretive exhibits!

The first exhibit was started back in 2018, during the 150th Anniversary events. Clay ponies were created as a public art project to represent the pony herd at Chief Black Kettle’s camp. These ponies are now on display at the visitor center. If, you created a pony or two (or three), come by and see if you can find yours amongst the herd.

The second exhibit is about a more gruesome part of history, army surgeons. Do you know what items an army surgeon would have used in 1868? On display are items that were commonly found in an army surgeon’s kit. How were these tools used with soldiers on the plains? Come to the visitor center to find out.
