The Superintendent's Compendium lists the special designations, closures, public use limits, permit requirements, and other restrictions imposed under the discretionary authority of the Superintendent. Prayer OfferingsWashita is hallowed ground for many of the Plains tribes. The stones and other items that you see sitting on top of the granite monument or the colored pieces of cloth or other objects which are tied on the fence or hung in the trees along the trail, all serve as physical and symbolic representations of prayers left by Native Americans today. Wherever you see them, remember that they are an integral part of Native American religious rights. We voluntarily ask that you please do not disturb, damage, remove, or photograph them. Visiting with Pets
