Can’t get to the park? Live too far away? You can still explore Washita Battlefield National Historic Site with your group! Washita Battlefield offers free, interactive, distance learning programs for all ages. Groups can connect directly to the battlefield through platforms like Webex, Zoom, or Skype. Program lengths can vary from 30-60 minutes, based on class time and grade level. Check out our offerings below:

The Battle on the Washita:

Join a Park Ranger for an overview of the Battle of Washita, using a PowerPoint presentation and answering student questions. (30-40 mins)

What’s that Scat!?:

Join a Park Ranger to explore the animals that live in a riparian landscape and how the Cheyenne tracked these animals to survive on the plains. (30 mins)

Ask a Ranger:

Join a Park Ranger for a question-and-answer program for groups of all ages. Here is the opportunity to ask all those questions you have ever wanted to know about being a Park Ranger. (30-60 mins)

Hold Your Horses!

Join a Park Ranger to explore the importance of horses to Plains Indian cultures and the US Army in the west and the role horses played in the Battle of the Washita. (30 mins)
