Upper Cliff Dwelling Guided Tours

Tours are offered to the Upper Cliff Dwelling November through April, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Please call (928) 467- 2241 to check availability and make reservations. Space is limited, only 10 people are allowed on each tour. Reservations open October 1st, 8:00 am for the season. It is common for tours to fill months in advance.

Reservations are limited to six (6) individuals per group. For groups larger than 6, please make multiple reservations. This hike is not recommended for children 8 years and younger.

The trail to the Upper Cliff Dwelling is 3 miles (4.8 km) round-trip and takes about 3 to 4 hours. The tour begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please check in at the Visitor Center by 9:45 a.m.

The trail gains 600 feet in elevation and has several rocky, uneven steps. Wear good, closed-toe shoes and bring hiking poles if desired. Water is required and snacks are encouraged.

 

Tour Details

Make sure all hikers are prepared with good shoes, proper clothing, food, and water. This hike is designed for those who hike on a regular basis. Please reconsider if you have any serious health problems that may limit ability to finish this hike.

During the hike, park staff will stop several times to offer insight about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem and the prehistoric people who called it home.

The Upper Cliff Dwelling is a sensitive backcountry site. Smaller numbers help to reduce impact, but please remember to tread lightly. Leave everything the way you found it. All artifacts, rocks, and plants are protected and may not be removed or damaged in the National Monument. Learn more about the Upper Cliff Dwelling.
