African Burial Ground trips consist of a 90 minute visit, which includes a site film, a ranger led discussion, and a tour of our memorial, as well as a chance to explore the exhibits in our visitor center. On-site visits are offered Tuesday-Saturday at 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM and are limited to groups of 40 people or less.

Lobbying for Equality: Examining the "Deadly Political Index" of the National Woman's Party

Students examine a primary source document from the National Woman's Party lobbying records and identify differing perspectives on a political issue, the Equal Rights Amendment. They plan their own lobbying approach based on what they learned. Students then identify an issue and design their own campaign for change.

Biodiversity Curriculum: Flipping for Adaptations

Students will show what they have learned by drawing and writing about their “flipped” animal to encourage creativity and thoughtful response in how these adaptations help their animals survive in their unique environments. William Howard Taft National Historic Site

Judgement Day

In the early 1920's the Volstead Act caused many citizens, like George Carroll, to break the law to sell liquor. Chief Justice William Howard Taft and the U.S. Supreme Court would pass down judgement based upon their interpretations of the U.S. Constitution's protection from "unreasonable search and seizures" as outlined in the fourth Amendment.

Field Trip: The Villages

Learn about the life of the Hidatsa tribe that lived in the villages at Knife River Indian Villages NHS. The park ranger will guide students through interactive presentations in the museum, the earth lodge, and in the village (on the trail). Program also includes the 15 minute introductory park film.
