Objective
As a result of this lesson plan, students will…
- Research and understand the story of a reformer and their role in the Women’s Rights Movement
- Use a form of social media to bring the reformer’s struggle and hard work into contemporary times
- Identify personal connections to the reformer's fight for Women’s Rights

Reformers and activists in the 1800s used newspapers and public speaking events to share their ideas. What would it be like if they had today’s social media on their side?
In this activity, you’ll be the media manager for a nineteenth-century activist. Then think about how you’d share their message—videos, blogs, photos—and why.
Preparation
Background
Would Suffragists have had greater success if they had Social Media on their side? Who would be TikTok Famous? Who would be an Instagram Influencer?
Let’s use Social media spread the word.
You are the media manager for a Suffragist and her/his own story. Create a meme and a post to Tweet, post on Facebook or Instagram, a Snap, or a TiKTok, for this Suffragist. Share their story, make their hard work TikTok famous.
Review the following online resources. Find a Suffragist that you connect to.

- A compiled list of 20 Suffragists to know for 2020.
