Frederick Billings
- Locations: Marsh - Billings - Rockefeller National Historical Park
Frederick Billings made a career as a lawyer, real estate developer, and later, head of the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1861, he married Julia Parmly, and shortly after purchased the home and farm on the site of the birthplace of George Perkins Marsh in Woodstock, VT. Soon he had established a scientifically managed herd of Jersey cows and began a forest revitalization project on the adjacent Mount Tom. After his death, his estate was passed to his wife and daughters.
