    World-renowned painter Ulrike Arnold and international artist Victor Van Keuren join Glen Canyon's Artist-in-Residence program October 7 to 19, with a grand unveiling of a four-dimensional exhibition of the artists' work on Saturday, October 19 at Carl Hayden Visitor Center.

    Homestead National Monument of America is looking for practicing artists wanting to find inspiration from our rich cultural and natural resources in 2020. The deadline for accepting applications is October 31, 2019, via mail or email. Artists will be notified of selections by the end of November. Artists can be fine art painters, sculptors, fine art photographers, performers, writers, video/filmmakers, composers, etc. These artists will channel their individual talent into one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by the homestead story and park environment.

    On Sunday, September 22 at 2 p.m. Homestead National Monument of America artist-in-residence Nancy Lehenbauer Marshall will present her program “Discovering Place through Painting” in the Homestead National Monument of America Education Center. During her presentation, Nancy will show some of the many painting she has created over her forty year career and discuss how creating art allows us to feel empathy for place and for others.

    On Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2 p.m., Homestead National Monument of America Artist-in-Residence Heather Heckel will present an interactive craft class in which participants will create their own designs using radial symmetry. Kick off the week on Saturday, April 20 with American Spring LIVE at the Homestead Education Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. American Spring LIVE marks the coming of spring through interactive citizen science projects, crafts, booths, and more! This event is free and open to all ages.

    On Sunday, April 28, 2019, Homestead National Monument of America artist-in-residence Cara Calvert-Thomas will hold an interactive painting workshop at 2 p.m. in the Homestead National Monument of America Education Center. The workshop is offered free of charge and is open to all ages. During this interactive workshop, visitors will be guided through the process of creating a watercolor landscape painting before imposing a photograph of a historical Nebraska figure or influential homesteader on it. Each participant will create a piece that they can take home with them.
