Welcome to the island of Sheetʼká!

As a national historical park, Sitka preserves a landscape that drew Tlingit, Russians, and Americans, and sometimes led to conflict between them. A forest and estuary rich with salmon, berries, otters, and timber are yours to explore. You can wander among totem poles obtained from Haida and Tlingit, explore ceremonial and traditional objects from Tlingit and Russian Orthodox cultures, and visit the site of a significant battle that prepared the way for America's purchase of Alaska from Russia.
